If you have a York Air Conditioner or Air Handler/Heater, use this guide to find the year of manufacture.
If you would like to know how long you can expect your A/C unit to last, check our blog on AC lifespan.
York AC Age
The age of a York AC unit can be determined from the serial number on the label. There are two main styles of serial numbers to determine the age.
Serial Number Style 1: AC Units 2004 & Newer
In the image above, the serial number reads letter, number, letter, number. The first and second numbers are the last two digits of the year of manufacture. So in the case above, W1L6029995 would be manufactured in 2016.
To find the month, use the second appearing letter and the chart below.
Therefore, in the original case, the A/C unit was manufactured in October of 2016.
Serial Number Style 2: AC Units Older Than 2004
The second style of serial numbers are for York AC units that were manufactured before 2004.
This style of Serial Number is formatted with four letters at the beginning of the sequence. The second letter is the month of manufacture and the third letter is the year of manufacture. Use the tables below to decipher the letter to months and years.
